Pictured, one SUV and the new Porsche Golf alltrac GTS
I’m fairly certain the bottom of my windows are the tops of his.
Yes, I remembered my drink.
Also and because I didn’t get a picture have a short story.
I’ m waiting at the light on a very fast 6 lane road about to turn onto the freeway and I hear a screeching noise. I think it’ s me...nope, then I look to see if I’ m about to be rear ended. Nope. Then I see it, a GMT800 burb with a blown out rear window, the front tire is smoking and I think...oh noes, his brakes are locked up! Nope! The tire is turned fullt left going straight. Blown tie rod. Stop? HELL NO! power through! he was probably doing 40 with smoke POURING from the tire barely keeping it straight. I kept waiting for police sirens to follow but nothing. Just a bad day for someone who sure as hell isn’t going to be late to wherever it was they were headed.

One is an S V without the U, one is a UV without the S.

I’d love to see a marketing analysis of the current buyers for these two vehicles. I bet there’s high overlap.
/no offense intended
//LCs are just turning into pricey status symbols

That angle really makes it look like your rear axle is on the crab

I think the Land Cruiser has always been a pricey status symbol. It’s not until they approach or pass 10 years of age that you usually see them decked out and off pavement.

What ben said. I remember my father in law likes to tell me a story about how the local toyota dealer wouldn’t take him seriously about an inquiry on a brand new 62 series land cruiser. “These are really only for the affluent .” He was a dentist.

Fair enough...I just feel like they (the 90s models) fell off the used car radar for a while but have come roaring back in the past few years.
That’s just what I observed. Yes, they were definitely expensive from the get-go. I just never see any other 25-y-o cars in affluent areas quite as much as this one.

Yeah, I think all old trucks/suvs/4x4's have experienced a huge resurgence of interest in the past few years. Scouts, Broncos, Jeeps, pickups. Prices for used ones are insane. The whole overlanding/off-roading thing has really exploded in popularity and the aftermarket support for it shows this too. Also, Icon 4x4, etc.

The Subaru outback is more of an SUV than the Macan. And the Outback still claims to be a wagon.

exactly. I remember Car and Drivers old metric was the SG forester. Shorter than that and taint no SUV.
The shortest SG was 65.9 inches tall. The Macan GTS is 63 inches tall. an outback is 66.1

Speaking of nonSUV’s, I was behind a Honda Pil ot today. In the lane next to it was Chevy Sonic. I noticed t hey both have the same ground clearance thanks to the Pil ot’s super low hanging , rear lower control arms.

My wife was shocked to learn our Outback has slightly more ground clearance than her Explorer.

Who. The F. Judges a customer in a showroom like that.
At the marina it was largely true that the customers with the most money were the ones who spoke better than they dressed.

happened to me once. looking at all roads back in the 2000s, told the sales lady i was looking for the 2.7t manual. she said “that’s not really something Audi buyers want”. i said “well i do, and id like to be an Audi buyer. “well we’ll call you if any show up.” “do you want my contact info?” “huh? oh yes...”

Seriously, it’s almost like you don’t have to be smart to be a salesperson at a dealer...
